nice! sounds like it was actually real fun.

How did you do the panoramic shots? Does flickr have a photo stitching feature I am not aware of?

Did I respond to this offlist?

Naw, the panos are stitched with autostitch: http://www.cs.ubc.ca/~mbrown/autostitch/autostitch.html

If you use flickr be sure you're a paid flickr member. Free members have their images reduced to like 1024 on a side, which makes the panos useless.

Glad you enjoyed most of the Summit, Orn - sorry the Ethiopian didn't work out so well.

Too short doesn't even come close to how I felt about it, even though I was there for an extra week (almost). The last day (Friday), I drove out 159 at about 1:30am (after the Thunder show), and I think I got some interesting night shots. The moon was almost full, so i didn't see the Milky Way, but I figured out some of the settings on the camera and managed to get some moonlit scenes, as well as a few stars.

Won't clutter your blog with my angst, but there were definitely some desperately depressed and lonely moments of my vacation ... the best part was certainly when I had people to share my experiences with. (I might have been able to change that perception if I hadn't been the only solo male at Thunder and far too chicken to get in line with all of the girls to get a photo with the dancers at the end of the show ...)

Ethiopian: Not your fault. The funny thing was, the dish I go was basically sheep bones in *still more* injera. Eh. You go for one-of-a-kind experiences, and sometimes you get a miss. No biggie.

Hope you had a tripod for those night shots. I would have liked to have gotten a good desert sunset, and maybe been out there at night, as well, but it wasn't to be. I suppose I could have taken a car out Sunday night, when we stayed up, but it looked like Jon needed some assistance staying awake...

Hopefully the angst wasn't too bad; definitely not something that should spoil your time off! Though I'll agree that the apres-show photo opp is a lost opportunity.

Send along any last pictures you want on the Summit DVD, and the panos. And thanks again for hosting a great time. I think you're right that it was a big improvement over Philly! ;^)
