And I'm sitting here going "It looks like Zazu is modeled after Dimorphodon. I wonder which of the theropods she modeled the hyenas after?" A sentence which can be translated as "Dork dork dork dork dork."
EDIT: This comment would have been posted much sooner, but I there was a tornado. -_-
8D Zazu is indeed supposed to be a dimorphodon; I'm glad you can actually tell because I was all WELL IF DISNEY CAN TAKE ARTISTIC LIBERTIES WITH HORNBILLS I CAN TAKE THEM WITH PTEROSAURS >>; The hyenas are boring ol' velociraptors but you can't see enough of their bodies (which I kinda screwed up, haha) for it to really matter. They're just ... generic smallish dromaeosaurids, I guess >>a
Yeah, the hyenas are a little stocky for velociraptors, but generic dromaeosaur works. Zazu is spot on. I was able to tell him immediately.
I studied paleontology for a year in a Master's program and my undergrad is geology with several paleo classes. I even use to identify fossils for a museum. So I'm rather pleased when I can recognize the references people use in their drawings.
Well, I should say tornado sirens. We're having a line of nasty storms going through and the tornado sirens keep going off. Hopefully I will not be doing a Wizard of Oz impression any time soon.
MAYBE YOUR RED SHOES WERE SUPPOSED TO COME TO ME. ARE THEY RUBY SLIPPERS?
Yeaahh. It's difficult to get the balance of making them identifiable as the species they're supposed to be as well as keeping the feel of the original character design /o_O\ Generally I feel I am excused with a lot of things considering how very stylised a lot of the animals in TLK are, but still ... this is why the lions are Artisticlicensosaurs, fearsome creatures that lived in close-knit family groups and were indubitably the rulers of the prehistoric world. >>a
That is pretty neat. I just went to art school twice and dropped out halfway through the first year both times, so my academic credentials are a little less impressive, but I did spend my entire childhood being the kind of obnoxious kid who pisses people off by correcting their pronunciation of obscure dead animals. And by 'my entire childhood' I mean every day of my life between when I found out what dinosaurs were and right now, uh.
Yiikes @_@ I am sometimes very glad that no interesting weather ever happens here.
