This is terrible!! The crap you must have to put up with! UGH!
I wish you were my cbg! As a female comic buyer, it pissed me of that the male comic salesguy was always judging what I was buying and making snarky comments. Argh!
And that comment about prehensile dicks reminds me of this cartoon I saw with a guy who was like Spidey but the webs came from... let's just say elsewhere. So damned amusing, there were even these little blured spots covering things up! *snort* Ahhhh, how I miss you scans_daily. :(
On the one hand: The Alan Moore thing alone throws me- I'm comics-retarded, and even I know who Alan Moore is. Everything else is just... Yeah, I can't figure it out. I'm trying to come up with another explanation for a woman to work in a comic store besides an interest in comics herself, and I got nothing.
On the other hand: HEY YOU LOOK PRETTY KNOWLEDGEABLE, CAN YOU RECOMMEND SOME MARVEL FOR AN INTERESTED NEWB
I mean, my brother's collection is okay, but it seems like every series he's got it's only volumes 2 and 5, or issues 17-20 and 35, or whatever. I am in serious need of a starting point.
I'll try anything, but I like stuff with at least a little humor in it. On the other hand, I dig stuff where the problems are more serious/less comical than chasing bad guys with stupid names and dumb costumes- like, problems that involve society instead of the hero and the bad guy alone.
That's about it, I guess? Like I said, I'll try anything, so coming up with criteria was like WELL I LIKE THIS AND THIS AND THIS BUT I GUESS THAT COVERS THAT WHOLE SPECTRUM WELL SHOOT.
UM idk I suggest Runaways? It has lulz and supernatural shenanigans and is quite a nice sort of ... gentle ease-in to the Marvel universe, I guess, just without all the COMPLICATED BACKSTORY and STUPID SUPER VILLAINS and RIDICULOUS COSTUMES AND CODENAMES and things but whilst still taking place in the same setting as all of that stuff. I think it's all available in collected volumes but if you'd rather not spend your money before knowing if you like it then I can throw you some download links.
