"Fire"

This is a picture of my friend, which I edited and stylized. It is now a much more artsy version of what was previously an awkward, naked picture. As such, it is completely deviod of the gawky feel, instead having a more intense, dark mood. You'll have to see it to know what the hell I'm talking about.

I like it. The background kind of detracts, though - the body should be the focus of the piece, in my opinion.
(and - although you probably shouldn't answer here - who is she?)

I had the background darker, but I changed it for two reasons. Before, it looked pretty dull, and didn't show well on most monitors. Also, I like the way it breaks up when the color curves are set as they are in this version. It makes it look sort of electric.

However, I definitely see what you're saying, and as I'm looking at it again, I'm starting to agree with you. Maybe it would look better somewhere in between where it was and where it is now.

After all of the comments have come in, I'll probably make some changes.

the background makes it look semi matrix ish
and the headband with the biggish looking hair makes her look like a go go girl
go go + matrix + colors that in my opinion contrast too much = ewww
sorry dude.. not my style

so why did you have an awkwardly naked picture of your friend to begin with?

Now that is a very long story...

But no, I wasn't behind the camera.

Beautiful in a darker kind of way. The way that the person is shadowed makes it more mysterious and that much more alluring. I love it. Then again... I love art, as well as the fact that nudity is always made to be perverted within society today. Anyhow... Nice work.

::still wonders about how he has a naked picture of his friend... who by the way looks to be quite a gorgeous girl::

It's funny you should mention that, because she's shadowed for a few reasons. The first is that I didn't really have a choice but to preserve anonymity (by obfuscating the face) if I wanted to show it to anyone. But yes, I do love the mysterious effect. And as a technical note, the original picture was pretty much evenly lit. The shadowing happened when I adjusted the color curves to get the red effect, and while I was doing that I brought the black level up and the midtones/highlights way down, so something that was just a bit darker than it's surroundings but still quite visible (i.e. her eyes) became black.

I can't tell you how I got the picture, but I do agree that she's beautiful.

that's incredible - you're a talented mother fucker.
Thanks. *blushes* :)

and i know that you stole it off a porn site that you masturbate too (lol :-P)
If you find porn that good, let me know. :)

Although honestly, one of the things I like so much about this image is that it's not really all that erotic.

Its nice to hear that somebody thinks I look good enough to be on a porn site. Part of the reason why I had this picture taken was to be more comfortable with my body. So you definately boosted my ego.

I like how you can see her body well in the red light, but her face is shadowy. Did you do that intentionally (or for reasons other than anonymity?), because I think that that's sort of a statement on its own. Like...the identity is inconsequential, and your eyes really are drawn to her exposed torso. I don't know....I'm not entirely sure what meaning you were going for (if any), but I could go on for hours interpreting it. This piece could make a pretty bold statement, if you let it.

P.S. yeah I'm still curious as to how you got a hold of a picture of your friend topless...

P.P.S. for criticism, not too keen on the blue tint of the background...I think I'd like it more if it was all in reds

I do agree, although I'm embarrassed to admit that the photo draws the eyes there, but it is the brightest part of the picture and that's human nature. (On two counts, for most guys :)

But yes, I did sort of have the face in the shadows in mind when I started, and I did consider the message in that, and I found that intriguing. As said in the notes just below the picture, there were a few different versions of with blue eyes which eventually got nixed. I tried red eyes too, but that just made her look like a devil. :) The other comment I got was that seeing the eyes detracted from the mystery, and that was really what caused me to take them out.
