help! part II

I think my computer is sick. :( After I've been online for about 10-20 minutes, everything starts getting slow and all my open windows freeze up. It takes forever to cut off or restart my computer when this happens. I've checked to see if any spyware has made its way into my programs, and I didn't see anything. I've ran the Norton Virus thingy ( Read more... )

Hmm, other than spyware or a virus I have no clue. Have you tried using more than one spyware detector thing, I know some programs catch things that others don't, although Adaware always seems the best one to use.

My computer occasionally freezes up, I just tend to restart and hope for the best. I've never had a glitch free computer so I just assume they all do it from time to time. But that's not very helpful...

Did you download anything prior to shutting down your comp and restarting it today?

I run Adaware for spyware and Symantec and AVG for virus protection (all free). I'd go with Kat's suggestion and try running a few other virus or spyware programs. There is always one out there that will find something another has failed to find.

I think I found some spyware after some closer looking. We got rid of it, and reinstalled the internet service we have. So far so good...I'm keeping my eyes on it though. Sometimes when you think you've gotten rid of it, it comes back without warning.

Try scanning with Spybot :) It picks up on more stuff. Either that or a component in the computer case is getting too warm, thus shutting down/slowing down the system. But I think it's Spyware.

Hope you fixed it ;)

Thanks for the email! Will reply soon, been a very hard and busy time for me lately. But I'll do my best to reply as soon as possible! :)

I used Spybot and it did find some things that I hadn't seen originally. After I restarted my computer and got back online, this WinFixer stuff popped up. I tried researching it a bit and from what I can tell, it's some program that will tell you that your computer has hundreds of threats. The threats aren't real, and if you delete them, it will delete your cookies.

I can't find it actually installed anywhere on my computer but it keeps popping up. Errr!!
