Capturing a picture (classroom)

Our professor gave us a prompt to "capture a picture" - show the entire narrative behind it, in just a couple pages. It's funny, I started mine about one a.m. the day it was due - and I had also just started my NaNo novel (yes, I'm doing that for the first time), so it was an abrupt switch and I actually had to catch myself: WHOA, this is not just ( Read more... )

Thanks. And what exactly do you mean, in past tense but conveying present tense?

That was really pretty. (This journal's really pretty, too, by the way.) And it really fits with the photo - sometimes, with this kind of exercise, it doesn't; here, I look at the picture and I know that's what's going on in the main character's head, and what she's seeing.
