Our professor gave us a prompt to "capture a picture" - show the entire narrative behind it, in just a couple pages. It's funny, I started mine about one a.m. the day it was due - and I had also just started my NaNo novel (yes, I'm doing that for the first time), so it was an abrupt switch and I actually had to catch myself: WHOA, this is not just

That was really pretty. (This journal's really pretty, too, by the way.) And it really fits with the photo - sometimes, with this kind of exercise, it doesn't; here, I look at the picture and I know that's what's going on in the main character's head, and what she's seeing.
