Running: Cold Springs Trail

NOTE TO FRIENDS: I have never been good at sticking with this LJ thing, and now (being married and studying for quals) there's no reason to think I'll start. However I want to log some trails I'm doing. I hope to scan (and post) the accompanying topo maps for good measure. Hopefully I'll have this to look back on when planning some longer runs. You should do San Ysidro, but immediately take a left fork (visibility varies) over the creek. It's the McMenemy trail, or something like that. Heads up past the San Ysidro ranch, steep with an option to use switchbacks or charge straight up, and then eventually (2 miles) reaches a nice rock bench. Behind the bench is a semi-overgrown trail that leads to some nice rocks for climbing around. Below the bench is an empty water tank. The trail goes past the water tank, and along the side of the mountains until eventually connecting to Hot Springs and Cold Springs. That's probably the catwalk one you mention at the end ( ... )
