this is not a love song
-- a h/d fan mix
Just another quick little H/D mix, mostly soft rock, bluesy type stuff meant to represent post-argument type thoughts and feelings… or something. Not really sure, to me I’d assume that in a relationship, things wouldn’t be easy. Draco wouldn’t really be the one to confess his undying love, and Harry isn’t all sunshine and daisies, and given that they kinda butt heads in canon, it’d be pretty safe to assume that any romantic relationship would be filled with arguments and little angst filled moments.

hold you in my arms - ray lamontagne [full lyrics;;
here]
When you came to me with your bad dreams and your fears // It was easy to see you'd been crying // Seems like everywhere you turn catastrophe it reigns // But who really profits from the dying
Either during the war or post-war, Draco’s POV. I pretty much see this song as coming to the realisation that The-Dark-Lord-Who-Couldn’t isn’t going to win, realising he may actually having feelings other than contempt for Harry, feeling confusion at realising those feelings, taking action on those feelings, and the feelings after the war ends. 0.o it made more sense in my head.

wasteland - matt white [full lyrics;;
here]
All alone, where are you //Are we over // Something said // Wish we had all those good times <…> You start the fight don’t you leave, it ain’t over // the suns so bright // One more life let’s start over
Post-argument song. They’re both angry and hurt, yet they still don’t want to lose each other.

words fail you - kris delmhorst [full lyrics;;
here]
I've been dying this whole evening just to reach out for your hand // And I've been trying to keep believing that I might ever understand // Now the hour is getting late, and the moon is sinking low // You find yourself in such a state with so far still to go
Wanting. It’s as simple as that.
o4 -
breathe - alexi murdoch [full lyrics;;
here]
And all the suffering that you've witnessed // And the answer that you're seeking // For the question that you found // Drives you further to confusion // As you lose your sense of ground
Post-war angst, pure and simple. Hey both get a little fragile sometimes when they reminisce about things that happened during the war (which inevitably leads to a fight).
o5 -
breakin’ me - jonny lang [full lyrics;;
here]
Why can't you give us one more try // You and I could find a way to live // If you let me in one more time // I know you lost your faith in me but I still believe // Can I make you understand, can I make you see // That I'm desperate for your love and it's breakin' me
This ones a post break-up song.
o6 -
demons - guster [full lyrics;;
here]
Cause it’s easier sometimes // Not to be involved // Somehow I make you believe // When I speak I cross my fingers // Will you know you’ve been deceived? // I find a need to be the demon // A demon cannot be hurt
They both seem to be the kinds of people who would hide their true feelings to keep from being hurt in the long run.
o7 -
love song - scott clifton [full lyrics;;
here]
With conscious hands and steady feet // You lean in toward me, I can't breathe // Our lips move closer and boy, well here goes nothing // But this is not a love song // It couldn't be that I could fall for you so soon // So go on, break me, take me // To the place I'd want to be // And we can just pretend it wasn't all a dream
Pretty much, it’s just about being surprised at falling in love so fast.
bonus track:

love and memories - o.a.r. [full lyrics;;
here]
Now I am stuck inside a memory // You forgot about our destiny // You buried me, Didn’t you // Love me faster than the devil // Run me straight into the ground // Drowning deep inside your water // Drowning deep inside your sound
This one was sort of different to all the other’s which is why it ended up as a bonus track. But it’s another post-fight/break-up track. Basically just that point where your still so in love with someone and they’ve pretty much forgotten you (or seem to have) and you wonder if they know how much they can break you.
Yes, I know my ‘explanations’ are on the sucky side. It’s hard to try and articulate why one song over another. And in all seriousness, it started with ‘Love Song’ and then ‘Demons’ made me think ‘ohhh fan mix time!!’. I was going to do little drabbly things for each, but I ended up finishing one and getting stuck on the second :\ so yeah, sucky explanations and lyric snippets is all you get.
All links will remain active indefinitely unless I run out of space and require it for something else. So yeah, go for your life.

this is not a love song And finally, yes, I do realise I haven’t used capitals and that I also have used ‘o’ instead of ‘0’, it as all deliberate. I like it that way.
