Neither option appealed to him but worrying like this made him feel like some sort of soppy girl and while there was nothing in writing, it was a clear stipulation of their relationship that if either of them was the girl, it was Peter.

*snort* Yeah, we all kind of figured that.

“You really think they’d be stupid enough to put us in two cells close enough that we could actually talk?”

Ah, Peter; never underestimate how dumb the Company can be.

But this time in the space next to Peter’s name, which was usually blank for all that he had no spouse to put there, he’d written and erased and written again two words: Claude Rains.

Awesome. Just the right kind of ending.

You know, until Heroes comes back, I'm pretending this story was Season 2, and how it all worked out. Because you honestly did a better job of it. Loved reading it, and I look forward to reading more from you, even if it isn't a sequel to this or anything.

Wow, thanks so much! I'm so glad you enjoyed the story's ending. I knew as soon as I wrote the story's opening scenes that it was going to end with Claude's name being added to Peter's family tree but somehow I thought the scene would be more cheerful than the one I ended up with. I wasn't sure if that touch of sappiness worked with the overall grimness, so I'm very happy to hear you liked that piece. :)

And I'm also hugely flattered by what you said about using this story as a temporary "substitute" for season two. *blushes* I agree that season two had some problems but I definitely had the advantage of hindsight and I had a lot of fun taking some of the elements I liked and adapting them to the story.

So, once again, thanks so much for reading and commenting! It's been a great ride!

Very awesome ending. Claude finds the fact that fact that Peter loves him daunting. Anything else he can handle but this makes him uneasy. So very Claude.

“That’s your mother talking,” Claude said.

“Yeah, because I’m sure this is exactly what she meant when she said I should try to find something worthwhile to do with my life,” Peter said.

Claude frowned. “She’ll murder me, you know,” he said. At Peter’s skeptical look, he added. “No, really. She will. She told me so that day in the kitchen. And some of us can’t come back from that the way you can, mind.”

Claude is scared of Angela. Well she is pretty intimidating.

Yes, I think Claude definitely has a lot to be daunted by, knowing not only that someone cares for him that much but also that that someone is related to someone like Angela Petrelli. Yikes!

Anyway, thanks so much for commenting. I'm so glad you enjoyed the story. This really has been a great ride for me!

if either of them was the girl, it was Peter.

Lol.

And Peter is still going meet Adam! That is so awesome. Are you writing another sequel to this? Please?

So glad you enjoyed that little dovetail back into canon with Peter on his way to meet Adam after all (though I don't know so much about the side trip to Ireland...it would be cruel for him to have to lose his memory twice).

As for another sequel, I have a few ideas but no concrete plans at the moment. I think I might have to watch Volume II again before I'm able to come up with anything substantial. But I'll definitely be keeping it in the back of my mind. It's very encouraging to know that a sequel would be welcome. :)

Once again, thanks so much for commenting. I'm so glad you enjoyed the story. It's been a really great ride!

This fic was amazing and I totally loved it. I have to agree on the season two thing, as well because this fic was MUCH better than it was. Bravo. Sad to see this gone, but it was great while it lasted :)

Wow, thanks so much! I'm so glad you enjoyed the story as much as you did. It's also truly flattering to know you also feel it would work as a temporary "substitute" for season two. I agree that season two had some problems but I definitely had the advantage of hindsight and it was fun working the elements that I liked into this story here. :)

Thanks so much for reading and commenting! It's really been a great ride!

At Peter’s skeptical look, he added. “No, really. She will. She told me so that day in the kitchen. And some of us can’t come back from that the way you can, mind.”

“There has to be someone out there who has the power to resurrect the dead,” Peter said. “I mean, there’s everything else. Why not that?”

“And I suppose you’ll be putting an ad in the paper so you can find this person?” Claude said. “Anyway, I don’t think it works when you’ve been chopped up into pieces and posted in small boxes to obscure locations around the globe.” He shuddered.

lol awesome banter as always

Great ending, especially Claude's reaction to Peter's lil tree. This fic was absolutely wonderful(adds her name to the list of ppl who wish this was how season 2 went instead) I'm sad to see it go.
