I guess it really depends on how comfortable you feel with people knowing what you do and if you think you'll be able to accept whatever reaction you get from them. It took me years to feel comfortable discussing my depression with anyone but then I decided I didn't really care who knew.

only my teacher will see the paper, and i am just worried about her reporting me or trying to "help" me. i have no shame about it at all, but im also pretty modest and keep it hidden.

eh, do what feels best. your prof may try and help, but she can't really do anything about it other than voice her concern. you're over 18 and just because you cut doesn't mean you're a danger to yourself or others.

I think it also depends on the prof. I would totally feel comfortable writing a paper like that for some of the ones I've had, but definitely not all of them.

good luck with the paper either way:)

You wanted a response--

I think, regardless of the hygenics or the reasoning behind it all, that any form of self mutilation to a college professor would seem drastic and immediately require them to intervine somehow... be it by parent-teacher conference or the appointment of a school guidance couselor into the situation, and we all know how much those bastards suck.

My advice would be to not bring up your methods of stress-relief in a college paper if you intend on healing the problem in a logical matter. Bringing school into any psychological issue itself is a stressor, after all.

Bullshit the paper, but get some help for the self mutilation. From a friend, there really honestly is a problem with it in a society like the one you're living in. It's not only unhealthy to your body, but conditioning for your mind to repress all your stress into the physical manifestation of pain. It's best to keep the two seperate.

But, good luck with whatever.

you added more than was asked for.

who ever said i wanted help for it? personally, i enjoy it.
and you know, there really honestly is a problem with the fact that i dont shave my fucking armpits in a society like the one i am living in, but you never seemed to have a problem with that.

i should just become an alcoholic, im sure that is healthier.

but with the question i asked, your response over all was a "no, bullshit the paper"

I think you'd be much better off being an alcoholic. At least, that way, there'd be no(/less) blood.

um, jsut so you know, in most states, no matter at what level of education, theachers/professors are required by law to report if someone is a harm to self or others. just wanted to let you know before you wrote about it in a paper.
