The supply area at the office is total chaos. I talked to my boss and was told that if I can come up with a better way, we can redo the layout of that area ( Read more... )

Ooh. I'll have to downloand that to use at home!

I forgot to mention that my computer at work is a mac. I'll fix that now. :) I can always take the measurements home with me too though.

Thank you!

I'm an architect and space planner, so I'd like to give you just a few hints:

1. Make sure you take into account the space needed for the swing of the door (if there is a door).

2. Try to allow at least 2'-6" clear for space to walk. 3'-0" is better.

3. Don't forget to allow for room to open file drawers and cabinet doors, and make sure they don't crash into each other when open.

Good luck!

The room is shaped funny, so there isn't really an issue of leaving space for a walkway.

That is the general idea of the layout. Right now we have wasted space and boxes in the middle of the floor in the open area that I would LOVE to see against the wall. I'm hoping to be able to rearrange in the storage area and make room for everything. If not, then we are converting one of our conference rooms to a sample room to hold some of our more recent design samples. I might be able to move some of the items in there (like maybe the rack that holds every size of laptop bag or carryon imagineable).
