So, when one is organizing a kitchen, and trying to get rid of some things, how does one go about deciding what cookware to keep and what to give away. Especially if that someone doesn't "bake" to much. Does she really need 3 metal and 2 glass loaf pans? What is the best to keep?

I think you start to answer your own question: Think about the cooking habits you have. What do you cook regularly and what cookware do you use when you do? I would say that most of that, you keep. If you have doubles of things, consider again the frequency with which you use them. I have two small frying pans, same ones, same size, but I keep them both because I use one in the morning and one in the evening. Then, I would think of the big occasions on which you might end up cooking: Do you cook on holidays, particularly Thanksgiving or Christmas? Then use your answers to help guide your thinking. Good luck!

The thing about big holidays is that they stretch the limits of the most tricked out kitchen. It's perfectly ok to ask people to bring equipment on holidays - extra pans, etc. so i wouldn't keep too much extra stuff for those once-a-year events... Unless, of course, you love it :)

i follow the same rule that i do when weeding through clothes. if i haven't used it in a year, i get rid of it. if it's seasonal (like bakeware you use only for the holidays) you might try storing it in a clear plastic bin so it doesn't take up cupboard space. have fun organizing! :)
