I am getting really sick of people who think that the riots have to polarise you as being pro- or anti-authority. You can believe that our society has problems with the distribution of wealth and resources and yet also believe that looting, destruction of property and mindless violence are inherently wrong

Was going to post a reply but it grew into an article so I'm posting it on my own LJ. More or less agree with you though, esp the "just because you support X does not mean you are Y". I've been called a nazi for wanting to see the people who torched houses dealt with severely, but the person doing the calling appears to have a hatred of the police for some reason.
