Dinner : FAIL.

Okay, so I go out to dinner with my grandparents (Mom's side), right? Already I am not looking forward to this concept. My grandfather arrives with his easily identifiable smoker's cough, walking through the front door. Mom and her 'rents sit and talk for a bit, then ol' Peepaw goes and uses the bathroom. And gets urine on my toilet. MY TOILET.

Ugh. Believe it or not, I actually have relatives resembling Spencer Hall. Except for the smoking thing. And the being ungracious to restaurant staff thing. And harrassing me thing. Okay, so the only thing they have in common is the upper-class Confederate attitude, and even that's been muted.

Of course, this is the better side of the family I'm referring to....

I just....every moment I spend with him is just so irritating. My mom is like, obsessed with her family (I attribute this to her near-lack of friends within her age group or indeed friends in general) and sometimes I get the feeling that she wants me to be that way too. I love my family - my dad's family. Her family and I have absolutely nothing in common. I just wish I weren't so often forced into siutations where she knows that I'm very uncomfortable

Oh, believe me, it's the same way with my mom and her family. I cannot stand any of them, with the exception of my lesbian aunt from Cali. The rest are all whiny, self-absorbed and high-strung. It stresses me out being near them. I swear, staying with my mother's side of the family is bad for my mental health.

Ugh, I have family I can't stand too. On my mother's side. I love my grandfather, but sometimes he drives me insane with his absolute NEED for me to play golf. Is that not strange? I do not understand it, nor do I have any desire to play golf. And don't even get me started on my step-grandmother. ACK.
