A Life Well Lived

Dec 03, 2006 16:28

My grandmother passed away today. I'm not certain, but I believe she was in her late 80's. She was my father's mother and was one of the sweetest people on this planet. She was a single mother much of the time, raising her five children and working hard to support her family. As she aged, she faced numerous challenges, including mental health ( Read more... )

I'm so sorry, Sweetheart. Please email me Mom and Dad's address so I can send a card?

*bing giant hugs all around*

I love you.

Thank you, Sweetie.
I think that would mean a lot to them. He seems OK, but I know he turns all this stuff inward. He's got a lot going on and I know this is just that much more difficult for him.

I cannot bring myself to call him or go see him, though. Is that terrible? I just don't know what to say. Last time I spoke with my mother, she said he went back outside to finish pressure washing the driveway. He was doing that when my aunt called with the news. I just don't think it's all sunk in yet.

I'll send the address over. Thanks again! :-)

Thank you. You're right, though. She did have a good life. When it wasn't good (and with mental illness, car wrecks, being alone after my grandfather died, alzheimers, and a stroke two years ago), she still trudged along with a smile on her face. She truly was one of those people who 'made lemonade' when dealt life's lemons.
She was an awesome lady, that's for sure.

Thank you, Kelli. We really appreciate that. Sami and I are OK with everything, but I do worry about my dad. He usually internalizes this kind of stuff and it's not good for him at all.
