Mazal Tov! (Unless news of a relationship is like news of a pregnancy, where the real point is the end result, in which I guess it would be B'Sha'ah Tovah- but I'd say this is good enough itself without anticipating a potential future.) I don't know the lady, but I wish you folks all the best. ANd I look forward to getting to meet her should she visit.

I haven't forged a coherent, self-contained philosophy of relationships, timing, the long now vs. the eternal present, etc., but this is definitely a mazal tov development. A long-distance relationship is, in some sense, necessarily future-oriented, but in the now this relationship is reminding me about open-heartedness, about how to love, and be loved, and that I am lovable in that way, and does not need to justify itself by what it might later become.

Just like, when we declared publicly that we were "just good friends", we meant that our relationship didn't have to justify itself by becoming what it has since become - which is how it was able to do so.

Good good. As terribly overly-serious as I tend to be, apreciating relationships for themselves is generally much wiser than only valuing them for the marriage they Might eventually produce. So in general, *sproing*. And thanks for the clarification.

Yay! I think it must be a particularly good sign when, you know, the relationship is so right that it just doesn't make sense to fail to admit it anymore :). Best wishes, both now and in the even more exciting future!
