The Mandalorian came as such a surprise for me, I didn't intend on watching it but I heard good things about it from others and, lo and behold, it's precisely the kind of show I want. It's essentially a found family story in a space western, just set in the Star Wars universe. That is right up my alley and I loved it.

It's interesting when people say that episodes 4, 5, and 6 were the weakest links because I don't necessarily agree. They might not have followed the same structure as the other episodes which, to be fair, might've felt off because of it, but this show was primarily very episodic and did focus on good elements of showing a bit of who the Mandalorian (Din Djarin) was as a character and what he's struggling with by trying to manage being on the run with the baby and still needing to keep getting money for essentials. I don't know, I think after rewatching them a number of times I've come to appreciate those episodes more with what it was trying to convey to the audience, especially about his character which, I think after ( ... )

I have to admit, I was uncertain that I even wanted to see his face before the finale aired because the aspect of that made it seem like an intrusion, but I quickly got over that feeling after the finale which was a brilliant loophole. Plus, even just a few seconds of seeing his face, seeing all that vulnerability and emotion, that was just fantastically acted by Pedro. He does the voice and body language of the character well, that I know that we'll be getting to see his face down the road. Just not immediately, which is fine. Give me that slow burn of Din realizing that he can let his personal guard down every once. Let us, the audience, see him in these private moments. Since I saw a meta that says that the face reveal was more for the audience to emotionally connect with him as we've been doing all season long, and that just makes me even more hopeful that we'll get more of those small moments here and there along the way ( ... )

I'm glad you got to see it! I started a second rewatch of it just today. :)

While I think mini-Yoda is cute (as designed), I don't feel anything for him beyond that he's cute. (And since he's designed to be, it's even less effective.) I kind of like that they hardly ever show his face. I guess because he's not supposed to show it? Or because his voice is so nice to listen to? I don't feel like I'm missing anything by not seeing it.

But talking about faces, I so completely loved the little alien guy (who taught him to ride in the first couple eps). I love his face and his voice and everything about him!

Yeah I liked him too and was really bummed when he died at the end. I was also upset the IG unit didn't make it and that Cara wasn't going along with him either. I feel like he needs a team, all good heroes have teams. But maybe that will come later.

I suspect that will come later, yeah. Right now there's a lot he has to do with baby Yoda. They'll probably bring team members in once they run out of material there. Hopefully they'll be as good...

I'm glad you're keen to keep going! I'm so in love with this show, it's reminded me that I do love Star Wars.

....or at least a part of it. :p
