movie thoughts: Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (2016)

I had no intention of watching Fantastic Beasts. I had fallen out of love with the HP fandom after the 7th book. When it was announced it would be a 5-film series, I decided I wasn't interested in committing to yet another story set in Rowling's magical world. But then rogueslayer452 linked to Pop Culture Detective and I started watching the videos on that

I think movie 2 is good but, at the same, it's all over the place. I do have to do a rewatch of both though.

What gets me is that Newt is Hufflepuff. He should be more... "careful" in the things he's doing but, like you said, he trashes everything and fixes with magic... I definitely like Jacob and Queenie in the first one. And I agree on the forced Newt/Tina. They were fine as they were through the movie...

Yeah, I don't know why they felt forced to create a "love" story when we were having a good ol' fashioned adventure. :\ It really drags down the second movie.

I could have gone with an attraction between the two but not necessarily a love story. I kinda see Newt as... well, not really interested in having a relationship like that, basically.

I liked the first movie a lot. Queenie and Jacob are my favorites. My opinion on the second movie is still under advisement because it left me frustrated. This might change if they explain things further.

Going to watch the second movie now. Def frustrated by the first hour...have a bad feeling the second hour will leaving me wanting. But not sure if it will leave me wanting more or less of these characters.
