flashback 2001!

Apr 23, 2019 10:19

I've got a program on organizing digital photos at the library which inspired me to start scanning my physical photo collection and I found this little gem. It's my bedroom as my parents house, probably around 2000-2001 (judging by the posters on the wall). I stayed home for college and turned my bedroom into what I thought a dorm room would look ( Read more... )

Haha wow, what a treasure!

I feel like I should have pictures of my old bedroom somewhere, but they're probably in family albums in Norway.... :/ otherwise I'd love to contribute here!

I approve of your Episode I poster :P!

LOL thank you! It was a treat to find this. I really barely remembered what my room looked like anymore...though I did not forget that stool. My grandparents insisted on getting me a twin bed for my bedroom, much to my parents' dismay, which took up so much space that I could not fit a real chair at my desk. So I took that stool out of the kitchen. It was not comfortable...and looking at how I am sitting in that photo cracks me up because I could NOT sit like that now!

Oh man, so cool you have a photo like that!

I lived at home for college, too, and my bedroom was one of the reasons I was happy to do that and put up with the commute, because I finally had a huge room (actually, the whole in-law apartment downstairs) to myself, and I had all my weird stuff on the walls and the shelves. There must be photos of it somewhere, but probably still in the boxes I moved over from my parents house and never unpacked. (Maybe I'll get to them when MY kids move out? Before that definitely doesn't seem likely XP)

That's why I stayed too - why would I want to move 20 minutes up the road and share a room with someone when I could have my own room, home cooked meals, my own shower etc. ? Just made no sense to me.

Going through old photos is so fun. Makes me want to go raid my parents' basement to find more. I feel like there must be at least one more box of my photos at their house...

Now that's a good picture! Look at all those posters!

I think there are some pictures of my room from my teen years somewhere. I had a man shrine on my wall LOL.

LOL I want to see the man shrine!

In this photo, my current loves were David Boreanaz, Ewan McGregor, Harrison Ford and Joseph Fiennes. Oh, and obviously John Cusack is there, watching over us all LOL

If I come across a picture from my teen years that has the man shrine, I'll def share it with you lol! I called it my man shrine then too lmao.

Of course John Cusack was watching over you all lol! Surprisingly, Ewan McGregor didn't make it onto my man shrine when he should've. I'm side eyeing teen me because him in his kilts def should've gotten a space!

ETA: OH MY GOD. I don't know how I forgot this, but I just remembered that I had a picture of 2GETHER on my wall that I took out of one of my magazines. My mom gleefully tore it down from my wall when we were going to repaint (... and didn't LOL) because she hated it.

LOL, I had/have something I refer to as my "big box of crazy" which is filled with magazine clippings of favorite shows and actors. But out of context it looks like something a serial killer would have.

As a card carrying member of the David Duchovny Estrogen Brigade back in the 90s, I approve of your man shrine, even sans Ewan. (And I'm not thinking of how kind of exclusive that club was because by saying "estrogen brigade" it was excluding gay men from loving DD...that was messed up...)

Great picture.

It is fun to re-discover old images, isn't it?

I really is fun finding this pictures! Especially with my little brother now 29 and in the Navy. I'm going to pester him with childhood photos while he is out in San Diego LOL.
