Blast from the past

I was looking at TimeHop, which usually just makes me depressed because a year ago I was doing the same stuff as I am today BUT today had a cool find - my website for my college radio show!

I should really download it and save it before UMBC decides to wipe their servers. Oh the memories! Way before spotify or pandora, WMBC was streaming music ( Read more... )

New favourite website! (And omg there's a link to geocities at the bottom. RIP GEOCITIES) Also, the face you're making in the first photo on the webcam page immediately made me think of Kristen Bell, specifically as a face she would totally make in character as Veronica.

This also lead me to the current WMBC website and now I'm streaming some really weird!awesome techno beat. I love college radio stations. ♥

I KNOW! I am so sad my geocities page no longer exists. I wish I had taken some screenshots of it before it went down. It was about as glorious as the WMBC page you see there haha.

And thank you for the Kristen Bell comparison! That always makes me happy! (god I was so THIN then...I had no idea...sometimes I look at young!me and think about the power I could have wielded had I known...probably for the best LOL)

Makes me happy that WMBC is still going after all these years!

I loved making up the themes, probably spent way too much time on it but it was so fun! I need to start making playlists on Spotify, I've already had a few ideas.

What fun! I think I might have a printout of one or two pages from my first website (final project for a library school class).

I love to see what you looked like when you were younger, and all the studio fun! Your playlists were cool too. In the "Self-Aware Songs" I'm delighted you included "This Song Is Just Six Words Long"! I love that song, partly because I got so sick of hearing the original ("I've Got My Mind Set On You") over and over and over.... Also, Weird Al rules.

Weird Al does rule and doesn't get enough radio play, IMHO, so I *had* to play him on my show. It was so much fun, I loved making up themes.

You should find your old library site and post it for a throwback day :)

I would have been in musical geek heaven to hear Ewan McGregor's version of Your Song blasting out from my radio.

I took the night shift so I could play whatever I wanted. During the day it was more hip and with it stuff. I would sneak in at 9pm, when the student lounge was empty and just play to my online listeners, which was usually no one so I would end up playing stuff I liked. Good times. :)
