Lomitzz and I were talking one day and then this happened.

IAMP
Titanic

Jean and Oliver were both sitting on the living room couch, bored. They both lacked motivation to do anything and the weather didn’t inspire much. Oliver sighed for the fifth time and Jean huffed.

“I’m bored.”

“What do you want me to do about it?”

“Entertain me.”

“What am I, your personal entertainer?” Oliver smirked at him.

“Well, technically, yes.” Jean rolled his eyes and threw a pillow at him, which landed square on Oliver’s face.

“We can watch a movie, if you want.” He finally suggested.

“Like what?” Jean slowly extracted himself from the couch and walked over to the entertainment center, looking through the drawers.

“Looks like there’s only one movie.”

“I don’t care, anything is better than nothing. There’s not even basic cable here.”

“You sure? You don’t even know what movie it is.”

“Don’t care.”

“Alright. You better not complain.” Jean put the movie in and then flopped back on the couch. The opening credits rolled in and the first scene started playing. Oliver looked at him.

“Titanic, really? Of all the movies? You picked Titanic?”

“I swear there was nothing else.”

“I’m sure you picked it on purpose.”

“If you don’t believe me, you can get up and check yourself.”

“No, no, it’s okay. It’s better than nothing.” Oliver did not feel like getting up, walking to the drawer and then returning to the couch. They watched the first minutes of the movie in silence, until Oliver started commenting on everything, out of boredom.

“Oliver, shut up.”

“Seriously though, how cold do you think it was, on the deck?”

“I don’t care, just watch the movie.” Oliver quieted down and then started saying the lines of the movie. Beside him, Jean sighed, but then started doing the same. It surprised them how well the other knew the lines, but they let it slide, for now.

Without telling the other, they split the roles amongst themselves, going so far as changing their voices to high-pitched, for the female ones. Oliver would let out the occasional giggle, whenever Jean’s deeply accented and deeper voice did not fit a character, or when he’d let out the occasional swear word.

Soon, they were both on their feet, fully re-enacting the scenes of the movie, not following the television so much. They added dialogue, skipped some scenes and eventually, they were both standing on the kitchen table, Jean holding Oliver’s waist, while Oliver had his arms spread over, “flying”.

They danced, they ran, they chased each other through the kitchen and living room, throwing lines at each other and switching with the characters. The television kept playing the movie at its pace, while they jumped from scene to scene, not always in chronological order, and sometimes looking at the television for guidance.

At some point, Matthew walked in to drop his things off, when he saw Jean standing on the kitchen table, extending his hand to Oliver. Oliver was kneeling on the floor, calling him “Jack”, telling him to quickly follow him, and when “Rose” got up and followed “Jack”, both of them “running” on the table, before jumping on the chairs, he quietly backed out, closed the door behind him, and decided to let them be, for now.

Soon enough, Oliver found himself pushing Jean off “the raft”, as they both lay on the kitchen floor, since they had to “stick with the script”. Jean found himself clutching to Oliver’s hand, grasping it for dear life, making promises of never letting go, while Oliver pleaded with him. There were tears in both their eyes, partially due to laughter.

“I’ll never let go, I promise.” Jean mock-acted. Oliver got closer to him, on his “raft” and looked straight in his eyes.

“Please, Jack, stay with me, stay.”

Jean closed his eyes and tried his best not to laugh, as he “died”. Oliver shook his hand violently, telling him to wake up. However, “Jack” remained quite still and quite dead. With a heart-wrenching sob, Oliver let go of Jean’s hand, while Jean “floated away”, Oliver weeping for his dead love.

“You promised. You promised not to leave!” He cried. Jean let out a loud snort and Oliver hit his arm.

“Hey, dead frozen things don’t laugh.”

“Ok, ok, sorry.”

“And they don’t talk either.” Jean tried, but couldn’t help himself. This was all so ridiculous.

“Fare well, my love, you shall be missed. Perhaps my womb will carry the child of our love.” Jean laughed even louder. He really tried not to, but with Oliver ad-libbing his own lines, he couldn’t stop himself. He was on his back, clutching his stomach, laughing loudly.

“Jean! You’re breaking character.”

“I can’t - I’m sorry, I can’t. This is too funny.” He wheezed. Oliver watched him and felt the corners of his mouth turn upwards. The more he watched Jean, the more he realised how ridiculous and funny all of this was.

Within moments, they were both laughing hysterically, holding on to each other, for support, still lying on the floor. Jean got back on the “raft” and pulled Oliver close, wrapping his arms around him. Oliver pressed himself on his side and they kept laughing.

When they calmed down, long enough to look at each other, they snorted and giggled some more, while Jean pressed breathless kisses to Oliver’s face. Oliver grinned and looked up to kiss Jean’s chin. They faintly heard “My Heart Will go On” playing in the background and Jean decided now would be the best time to pull his “best” impression of Céline, in his best broken and off-key voice, sending Oliver reeling.

“Please - stop - I can’t breathe - Jean -” He tried sitting up, but fell down in Jean’s arms. They tried to calm their laughter, without much success and simply held on to one another.

Eventually, their uncontrollable laughter died down and they remained lying on the kitchen floor, grinning at each other. The night hadn’t been completely wasted.
