Awesome. I loved the little flicker of Shakespeare. She went far, and in the end she took Jackie and Mickey with her. Brought them to something so much more than they ever thought they'd have. Because maybe they were content -- but maybe they hoped, in quiet, too. Maybe Rose was the best thing in their lives. Maybe that was still less than they'd once hoped for.
Oh, that's lovely- I definitely think she brought them something greater. She believed in them and loved them, but she also taught them how to let go. I don't think Mickey would have grown up quite the way that he did, becoming such an amazing resistance fighter, if Rose hadn't shown him how to let go of the person you were, in anticipation of the person you could be. I think everybody has those dreams, but most of us are afraid to seek them out. Rose wasn't.
I can feel the frustration of her life, like in that wonderful sequence of scenes where she's on the bus and she's upset about eating chips when the Doctor could be dying.
and we can all go pretty far, can't we? as long as we start running before we get too old.
And I think it's okay to start late, as long as you start at all. My grandmother didn't even try painting until she was in her fifties, and it turned her whole life around. As long as you never give up on yourself- I think that's the key.
