Thank you! I'm glad you think the story is sweet - but I hope it's not coming across too sugary. It's fun to explore the soft spots that House usually keeps well hidden. Isabella is an important character, of course, but she won't take center stage in the story for much longer, although her influence will continue to be felt.
Have a great July 4th! I won't be updating until after the weekend.
I am so interested in seeing where this is going, especially now that you have House interacting with Stacy and her five year daughter. And Isabella seems to be taking to House very easily. I just hope he isn't going to hurt her in anyway because if he does I'll join Stacy in wanting to kill him.
Oh hehehe loved Stacy getting House at the end there. Yeah like he'd know what type of mothers come in the clinic because he's never ever going to change when it comes to doing his hours there.
Oh last thing: you mentioned he's not using his cane as much any more and his limp isn't as bad. Are you going to get into why this is later in the story?
Thank you very much. I'm so glad you're enjoying the story!
With regard to House's leg - he's been taking better care of himself. He's under the care of a pain specialist now (as described in Chap. 2), so his meds are monitored, and they're more effective, because he's on a regular schedule.
He also started a physical therapy regimen four years ago that he's been pretty good about - even though he lapses occasionally, it helps his leg a lot. He still limps - and he always will - but it's definitely improved.

I read Chapter 2, promise you I did but I must have had a momentary brain lapse or something not to remember that. *smacks forehead* Duh on me lol!

This is something I would like to see House actually do on the show itself. There has to be a way for him to manage his pain without so much Vicodin use. I wonder if there's any hope he will after what happened in Wilson's Heart. I know those events have no bearing on your story. . . I'm just thinking "out" loud as it were.

I agree 100% and I share the same hope! I always have the urge to tell him to start swimming, because I think regular gentle laps in a well-heated pool would do wonders for him. But you know House - go try to give *him* any advice ;-)
This is such a wonderfully sweet story. You did a great job with House's character here, wanting to feed Isabella cotton candy. He truly is an eight year old who has a way with kids. Loved the visual of Isabella in Gravedigger. Too cute! And of course House would be all excited about that. :)

Isabella in Gravedigger was inspired by actual occurences. I'm a preschool teacher, and the one of the highlights of our year is a visit to the local firehouse. The children (3 and 4 year olds) get to take turns sitting behind the wheels of the huge firetrucks. Some are scared and don't want to, but others grin with glee as they pretend to drive, and us teachers have a great time taking pictures :-)
