character name: Rachel Elizabeth Dare
canon & medium: Percy Jackson & the Olympians, book
age & species: 16, human
appearance: Link to her PB.
timeline: post-The Last Olympian
background/history link: Here you go!

personality:Rachel is a girl with a taste for adventure and rebellion. She had a choice, once - to sit back and bask in her father's infinite wealth as a socialite, eventually maturing to wine and dine with the cream of the crop. At least, that was the life her parents envisioned for her. Unfortunately for them, Rachel turned out quite differently, choosing instead to live modestly and in pursuit of various artistic ventures.

She downplays her connections and prefers to forgo mentioning the fact that her family is loaded. She wants people to like her for who she is, not the amount of money in her father's bank accounts. In general, she's dislikes superficiality and people who think that only looks, partying, and designer clothes bring you happiness. Rachel prefers devoting her energy to protesting important issues, wearing comfortable jeans and a t-shirt, and doing all of the above in the presence of her father in order to maximize annoyance factor and further drive the point home.

She doesn't like being forced to adhere to expectations, which is why she is so adamantly against attending Clarion Ladies Academy for finishing school. She doesn't want to be rich and famous or heiress to Dare Enterprises. Rachel wants to be able to do what she wants without anyone judging her for it. This includes volunteering at homeless shelters, making hefty donations to several charities, and art. Most definitely art.

She doesn't take well to following the rules to a tee, but she does have a sense of responsibility. She believes in destiny and that she was meant to be the Oracle. She might act nonchalant about it, but her life has completely changed as a result of all the myth bleeding into it. As a mortal, she is in the minority of those able to take part in the world beyond the Mist. However, she doesn't appreciate being treated as less capable simply because of her mortality.

Rachel is headstrong with a tendency toward acting impulsively. Once she sets her mind on accomplishing a task, she will do what she has to in order to reach that goal. She's definitely not afraid of the unknown and is generally open minded, as evidenced by her complete willingness to accept Percy's out of this world explanations for the sword he tried to gut her with and the monsters chasing him. She's also not afraid of freaky Titans coming back to life - she throws hairbrushes at them!

Along with being stubborn comes a sense of being right, which is only further encouraged by her ability to tell the future. If she tells you that you will hurt someone if you keep throwing daggers so carelessly, you better listen - it'll happen, one way or another. Arguments with Rachel can be very frustrating as she tends to wield sarcasm like a weapon and then deliver the final blow by foretelling your doom (which is only sometimes a joke).

Otherwise, if you avoid stirring her disapproval, Rachel can enjoy a good joke and is a quite clever and friendly person overall. At this point in her life, Rachel has seen too many monsters and other eyebrow-raising things (mummified Oracle, anyone? Centaurs? Gods with sports cars?). As such, she is not easily fazed. She takes life in stride and lives in the moment, even if the future is always looming on the horizon.
abilities:▬ She's the Oracle of Delphi, so she can see the future and spout prophecies, though not at will and often in awfully vague poetic form. (I'm not sure if her powers will work at all in-game. What do you say, mods?)
▬ Can see through the Mist, which prevents mortals from seeing the mythological world, though this won't be necessary in Willaknapp.
▬ Can read and write in Greek.
▬ Skillful artist in a variety of mediums.
any plans for your character here?None in particular. It's a wacky adventure, Rachel can roll with that. She figures the little demigods back at camp can deal without getting quests from her for a little while.
possessions: ▬ A handful of drachmas
▬ Her clothes
▬ Sketchbook, pencils, a few tubes of acrylic paint
samples.
sample journal entry: Well, this is new. I thought I had settled down to sleep in my guest room, not the magical forest.

Percy, you guys, I'm sure you think it's hilarious to play a prank on the mortal, but I am not armed for combat against whatever lurks in the dark recesses of this place. I don't even know how to get back to camp!

Thanks for the funky device, though. Is it a new invention for demigods? That would solve the no cellphone problem. But it's certainly no iPhone. Wish I had Chiron's number, at least.

[When there's no immediate change in her situation, she sighs in a way that makes it clear she's more annoyed than she's pretending.] Fine. I'll walk. [Have the sound of Rachel stomping on grass for a few minutes, then she comes to a stop.]

Alright, I'm getting nowhere, and the joke is already old. What's going on?
