I was very psyched for this episode, but I confess I wish someone other than Russell Davies had written it. I know that, in television, new versions of something that's worked before are all the crack, but I would like to see a new vision of what a Christmas special could be. I dunno, I don't mind the Doctor kissing girls. But he doesn't have to kiss ALL the girls, you know? He doesn't have to get emotionally involved with every single person that crosses his field of vision. In fact as I recall it used to take an atom bomb to get him emotionally involved, and now he's all emo, and then people die, and he gets pissed off and makes a speech.

YES. You have hit the nail straight on the head. The old guy WOULD have made a great companion, except for the damned demographics issues that control so much of what makes it onto the air.

Ah, "Rose of Versailles." Hurrah for cross-dressing! And Old Skool animation!

I would have been so much happier if they hadn't done Jesus Doctor again. *yawn* And the moment Astrid asked if she could travel with him and he said "yes" I turned to Andy and said, "Well, she's going to die." I'd really like the show to be less predictable, damn it.
