Appearances don't matter. Heart is what makes someone human.

But yet every creature seems to have a very different heart. Do we have a different one then from say monsters and animals?

Genuine monsters don't have hearts. Not in the sense I'm using. I mean it as the ability to both understand and practice empathy. Any creature with that capacity inside has the right to be considered human, if that's what they wish.

If it's not what they wish, that's a prerogative of their own, but it doesn't remove the existence of that right. It seems a separate matter to me whether a life considers the term human to be desirable or offensive.
