Oracle's internal clock is lying to her. When she checks the clock display on her screen, she knows that it's been less than half an hour since she spoke to Nightwing, but subjective time is, by its very nature, deceptive. Seconds that are too long in passing for both of them. There is a high-pitched whine, and a burst of light that heralds a teleportation. Something almost routine for some members of the JLA; but today, this time, it's much more than that.

And as the light fades, the silhouette resolves itself. Mary and her father have come home.

As soon as the light fades, she rolls her wheelchair closer, reaching out for both of them. "Let me see her?"

Mary is still slumbering in his arms. Her parents aren't the only ones who have missed out on sleep the last few days. Dick is looking the worse for wear; his kevlar is torn in several places, his mask is missing and there are the remaining, still-healing marks of new skin on his face where he was burned by the acid Shimmer created from the now-absent mask's material.

He drops silently to one knee, and transfers the sleeping baby to her arms; a hand lingering to stroke the top of Mary's dark head.

Gingerly Babs accepts the child, her hand brushing against Dick's as she touches Mary's hair. Their daughter stirs sleepily, then snuggles deeper into her mother's arms.

Babs lightly presses her lips against Mary's forehead, then looks back up at her husband. "No fever," she jokes, her eyes bright with unshed tears.
