So right about now Gustav is almost on top of Shreveport.
sgflutegirl don't die!

Hurricane Hanna is so far being held back by the return winds of Gustav, but as those die down, she'll be heading up the coast straight for the Carolinas.
lunachickk don't die!

And all in the middle of it is Florida, as usual.

Makes our Midwestern blizzards seem pretty pathetic, doesn't it? We never have to evacuate!

No, we just get locked in. Which really isn't a bad thing as long as you have enough pop tarts in your pantry. And enough blankets to keep warm.

Gustav will be making his presense known in my area probably late Tuesday and into Wednesday. It's supposed to be down to just a tropical depression, and I'm really hoping the winds are way down at that point. There's been too many tornados in this area for me not to have minor freakouts when the high winds kick in.

I wasn't sure exactly how far away you were or how much you'd be affected. You and tejas and I think sunn_doyouknow is somewhere in that vicinity.

Last I checked, Gustav was already in the process of dying, but winds were still in the 50 mph zone and would continue to generate powerful storms up into Arkansas. One thing I haven't checked (I'm kind of afraid to look and I'm way overdue for bedtime now) is how much damage Gustav has already done. I'll try again in the morning.

*meep* I can't keep up with everyone's locations. I need to work on that. I hope you stay safe too! Maybe you'll get lucky and just get some heavy rains.

Heavy rains would be almost as bad as a full on hurricane... * blows up life raft*

Seconding the "don't die!" vote.

I'm lucky, up here in VA. We occasionally, get the remnants of a hurricane, but rarely. Not too many tornadoes either.

That's a place to live! No hurricanes, no tornadoes, no earthquakes, no volcanoes. Tornadoes are practically non-existent in Cleveland, although not entirely impossible. Down in Cincinnati where I grew up they could be common, but I still have never experienced one personally. Came close a few times but never actually hit in the spot where I happened to be. Not wanting to experience one either.

My in-laws had to evacuate Virginia (near Newport News) when a hurricane went up that way. It was never officially announced, but when they returned, they found evidence a tornado had been through--twisted trees and fences, and their boat, at the bottom of the canal.

It's not safe anywhere!

On that cheerful note, thanks for thinking of me! I promise I won't die in a hurricane! I'll pick some much more pedestrian way to go--a long, long time from now, I hope.

Mother Nature is out to kill us all! Run for your lives!

By 'pedestrian', do you mean walking across the street and getting plowed by a runaway bus? I wonder if that really looks like it does in the movies.
