a/n: i found this old piece (drabble?) lying around, and decided to post it. i hope you'll enjoy this excuse of a writing. peace. (it isn't much.)
He doesn’t really like to admit the fact that he thinks he's smart. The problem being most of the times he doesn’t even do the thinking. But when he does do it on some rare occasions, Daehyun thinks he is smart.
Daehyun has this theory that if he thinks hard enough (or at least, as many times as he opens his mouth) he could have outsmart many of the people he came to know. Because for one, most of the times when he decides to initiate the act of thinking, he comes up with great ideas. He thinks. But because he doesn’t do it so often he doesn’t often come up with great ideas.
Truth be told, Daehyun doesn’t believe in thinking. Or perhaps he had never taken the time to think whether he believes in such an act. However, he has this feeling... like he wouldn’t. Reason being the fact that people who think tend to be unhappy. Daehyun doesn’t want to look unhappy. He doesn’t want to feel unhappy. But it’s not as if he encourages people to be dumb (since not thinking has nothing to do with being dumb -he believes), he just doesn’t really care much. Which is a great thing if anyone would care to ask. You only care when you start to think. For whatever it is, Daehyun would like to remain an uncaring person he currently is.
Because caring begins when people allow themselves to think. When they think, their minds start to wander and end up with worries. Worries are the rotten fruits of caring. Worrying is a burden and a feeling he is happy to live without. He does not appreciate rotten fruits, especially when it is only realised after he cuts delicious looking things open and is only met with the ugly seeds. What-ifs are the ugly seeds since the appeal of being premature is so amazing that everyone decides to adopt. They only see the pretty outershell, but once they get into the core it’s no longer pretty.
The same applies to Daehyun himself, but with the exception that his outershell has not always been pretty. He believes he is rotten inside and out. But he isn’t unhappy. He believes he is quite content with his life-because he doesn’t think. And because Jung Daehyun does not think, he does not care.
