The Great Happiness Space

I just saw this documentary and it was.... hm... well, quite interesting, actually. It took the viewer inside the world of the Osaka host clubs as we follow the life of a famous host named Issei and his 20 employees at Rakkyo Café, a popular club in the minami area of Osaka. Issei, by the way, is only 22 years old!

I love that documentary! :D It makes me sad though. Host clubs are fun- I went to one a couple times last summer with a friend who was a regular customer. I would be down to go again XD Foreigners confuse some of them lol

That's sick. I saw that documentary last month and remember thinking how English-teaching isn't much different. We're essentially paid to talk to customers and make them feel good too. And I certainly can't stand some of my students...

Well, the question what do foreigners do with THEM is perhaps a more interesting one!

Once, in my hostessing days of yore, me and two other gaijin hostesses dropped in at a host club. The guys were obviously TRULY intrigued by us.

We did stuff like play the penis game with them. Lul. Real mature. :-p
But anyway, of the three of us, my Japanese skills were best, so I had to kind of steer the conversation and occasionally clear up losses in translation. But for the most part I think a good time could have been had by all even if my Japanese skills were nonexistent. They are that good! They are not only smooth talkers but they are good at using expressions and body language. They are like actors. They are among the most shallow and deluded creatures in existence, but they CAN make you have a good time and they have to know something about something deeper and greater or else they would not be able to imitate it so well. While we are in Fukuoka, we should have plenty of time for me to talk your ear off about all my experiences!
