I NEED GREEN! GREEN, I SAID!

As some of you might have noticed, I had to re-do the Hannibal slavegirl bodice because it had become too small. When expanding the back, I forgot I would also have to expand the rope skirt... I had tons of the red and black ropes used, but none of the green one. I assumed it was a piece of cake to find more of it, as it was basically everywhere ( Read more... )

Painting the ropes seems like a great idea. Hm, I wonder if that would work for me too? I mean, you sent me tons of red rope, maybe some of it could be painted green or black. I'm not sure how much there is, but there seem to be quite a lot.

You could at least make the red colour even more red. It was a bit rust coloured, wasn't it? Black should also be very do-able. Not sure about green, as the fabric paints usually are a TAD transparent. But you could add two layers, of course.

Buy some fabric paint and try it out. It might not be fun work, but it's a true money saver. And I think the bolt I sent you will be more than enough for the whole rope skirt.

If I haven't said it enough before, I LOVE your Hannibal costume. Probably the closest replica I've ever seen to the real thig. Gorgeous!

Coming from one who's owned "the real deal" it really means a lot. Thank you! I don't know if you remember, but I contacted you ages ago (10 years or so) and asked you about the construction of the London one. Your replies was most helpful to me, so you should have some of the credit for this replica.

I must admit that after this remodeling I'm very happy about the look of it. Changing the beads at the shoulder was a good move. The others were both dark and heavy, while the new ones are colourful, shiny and lightweight. Looking forward to take some new pictures!
