Bugger. I know it's no help, but I am working and living with my beloved Sofia for almost 8 years now. She's a 2001 iBook. OK - she can't handle Internet anymore, I admit that. Otherwise, we never had any problems (altough the battery is so old, she runs on the powerplug all the time)
In other words, I think I wait for replacing Sofia, reading your MacBook issues, sounds very annoying (and the "support" especially...)
Blessed old Macs... I liked Apple better in the past. Glad to hear your "Sofia" (wisdom in Greek, you probably knew that...) is still around. I have a iMac G4 from app. 2002 which I love to pieces, I will never get rid of that one. But it's not a laptop, it's a stationary home computer (or whatever it's called), and hence not something I bring with me... (that would be an interesting sight...)
Do wait until you replace your Sofia - the white MacBooks has had too many issues, with the cracking topcase and the many battery problems. It also have problems with the stand-by modus. The white MacBooks are now on their way out, being replaced by newer (and hopefully better) models. Stay tuned for those...
:-)) Yes - I knew the meaning of Sofia, that's why it got named thus. (I am a firm believer that the main cause of "computer problems" is located between keyboard and chair. At least in regard of Macs)I won't replace her, even if I get another model more up to date for Internet and such. I like the idea of having an offline computer where the data is safely stored :-)
I am in fact waiting for the new ones to come out, but also due to financial reasons, it will take me some more months until I can afford the new MacBook
Sheesh, that sucks O_O I hope it does go smoother than what you fear now! I have been considering getting a MacBook when I need a new pc, but from what you're saying I'll certainly wait...
Yeah, I'm a big Mac fan, but objectively speaking the white MacBooks has been so-so in.... not quality per se, but durability. Wait for the new generation of MacBooks.
Reading stories like this makes me think how lucky I am such things don't happen to me. I don't think I do things different from other people, but I never have such stories to tell.
Oh yes: Once the sole of my new shoe came loose, and they simply gave me a new pair.
