As promised, here are more pics from the piano nobile in Villa Caldogno, plus two from Villa Godi. The Caldogno frescoes underneath were painted by Giovan Antonio Fasolo (1530-1572), a follower of Veronese. One exception: the green dress with golden "mascarone" shoulder decorations are by Giovan Battista Zelotti (1526-1578), who trained together ( Read more... )

Ooo thank you for posting the pretties!

Hmm the first one of the guy in the "coat" I think that might be livery rather then a military uniform? He has what looks like a table cloth over one arm. Hmm also he seems to be wearing a sword belt but has no sword.

Oh,also the card game detail, the man in the gold it looks like he has a purse hanging from his belt.

I think the brownish band about the wrist of the chemise sleeve might be just a bracelet? It looks almost like there is a hinge on it.

Oooh yes, maybe it's just a bracelet? I noticed the same detail in a portrait some days ago, so that makes sense:

The livré theory also sounds very plausible.
