Some people think that when we're  life planning on the other side, we build certain exit points in for ourselves in case it gets too intense. So that car accident you nearly died in but somehow miraculously didn't?  Potential exit point. Stuff like that. And the ones who commit suicide, they missed their last exit point and couldn't wait for the next one.

Maybe people don't go before their time. Maybe they stayed too long and needed to be home.

I appreciate what you're saying, but the idea that someone had outstayed their welcome in their own life doesn't sit right with me.

Not overstayed their welcome. More like, missed their exit on the 405 so they pulled off the road and parked the car...

I can't remember the poet, but the verse is so clear in my head:

Pity the tears of an unborn child
Who cries for the life he will lead
Or even more so, for the tears of a soul
Who has lived and has need to leave.
