I've been in that situation before, where all the training comes from one (often unavailable for reasons of work and/or just being sort of an annoying person) guy/guyess. Bleargh. Be patient with yourself...
Exactly! And he's very snippy, for no reason. I get bad vibes from him. I think he's trying slightly, but we are not a love match. I just keep smiling. I did stress out internally yesterday all that prickily heat stuff but I stayed calm and breathed it away and reminded myself of all the lessons I've learned, etc. He's kind of a prick. LOL
At first I was excited that this may go permanant, but there are 5 temps ahead of me and they're hiring one more, not sure why. I think we're doing a big catch up because they acquired another company and then I heard Accounts Payable will be outsourced to India. Buh bye, thank you Corporate USA.
I've been the guy doing the solo training. I I know it's awkward so I make a point of giving the trainee a wide berth. Let them do as much as they can on their own, showcasing their experience, only coming for help when absolutley needed. There's no hovering or unneeded interventions.
With the PC acquistion delaying your start and the slow training process you'll need a wealth of patience. Hang in there.
Charlie Sheen. WTF? I heard he did enough coke to kill two and half men.
I have a feeling that you show more patience and are very thorough as a trainer. This guy says it fast and seems scornful of notes and questions. Hello?
I have no big picture, which drives me crazy and then I let it go. He's off today, thank goodness and I can work with another woman who is awesome and get my answers. Happy Friday!
When I trained people, I did the first walk through, explained the bigger picture, then the basics of the system, sat with them for a bit and kept my invisible door wide open. But I also encouraged the others to show them the little tricks of the system that I didn't know.
He's off today to teach 3rd graders, some sort of corporate thing they do, he's teaching city planning or something. I hope he's nicer to those little critters. ;-)

So I'm a temp. I'm free. That thought cheers me.
Thank you for the empathy and hugs! Back at 'cha!
