Hopefully this is not a sign of the new company's every day operation and professionalism. You have every right to be pissed but it won't do you any good.
That's terrible, how dare they muck you about like that!!! And then pretend not to understand why their misinformation (which they won't admit to) is making things awkward for you at the job you're in right now! GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR indeed!
Thanks all. After I ranted here, I immediately felt a bit better and just decided to let it go. I think the fault is with the agency, not the company, although I'm sure the company is as effed up as any, LOL. The agency as middle man and profit maker should be handling this better. I'm back in the flow even though my flow today is more like, what effing ever.
My reward at the end of the day for not imploding was that at my doorstep when I got home was the perfume I ordered, first time since I was laid off, THE perfume that I love and my clear bubble umbrella. That really cheered me up, mah stuff. ;-)
