I've never quite forgiven him for it. In the show, they moved past it too quickly, but I was always left with the question of what would have happened if Buffy had known about the Cruciamentum in advance. This was just the perfect world to set that up. :)

We all did. I think he - and that episode - personified that moment in every teenager's life where they realize their parents aren't perfect.

Of course, trust Joss to make this moment into a traumatic nightmare for Buffy.

It's true isn't it. And he continues to be up and down and not able to deal with his 'daughter' becoming an adult with a right to her own descisions, her own mistakes and making bad judgement calls for it.
