In Beijing. It is HOT. High 30s (90s F), not a cloud in the sky. Around midday its brutal but the evenings and mornings are great. Warm, comfortable and my hostel's all shady. (there's also a dog! a very cute golden ( Read more... )

I'm pretty proud of myself for swimming as far as I did. I'm not that...athletic but I might it right round the island and I feel kind of badass.

Asia's a pretty cool place to visit. Yes, tons of people, but many interesting things going on and the occaisional quiet place with less people does exist.

Glad you're having a grand time! Work has been killing me so I feel like I have been neglecting chatting with people :(

Lake sounds lovely!
What's been the most super-awesome or interesting hole-in-the-wall you've come across? What's been the most surprising thing you've learned in your thesis adventure?

(also, I adored the Trek/Pacific Rim crossover fusion idea and I would read the heck out of that should you choose to do it)

I spent last weekend at Star Trek Las Vegas and kept thinking about all my trekkie friends and the lovely fic they have done and conversations and geekery we've shared. Was hoping you were doing well over in China, then I started getting fic update notifications from A03, hehe.

Glad to hear China is treating you well. I would be cross with it if they weren't.

I found a completely random little tea shop that had awesome tea, fre wifi and really nice cake. Cake is odd here, really creamy and light but it was nice. (think...man, like nice little debbie sort of things).

I hope the busy-ness of work is going well.

oooo Vegas trek! I hope it was fantastic.

(I started it, Jaeger-prise is pretty darn cool. Setting in the 24th century made it way different from all the Pacific Rim crossovers currently on Ao3, so I'm still playing with it. interstellar Kaiju are crazy.

I've fallen so hard for OuaT. It's silly but pretty. Writing for a popular pairing in a big fandom is bizarre though. There's people...lots of people.

Miss you. Haven't given up 30th birthday plotting, just can't decide... (still ilke NZ, but it's SO far).
