Fees, fees, fees!

There are fees for everything in this school district! For one thing, it costs almost $300/year to ride the school bus--something I've always experienced as a free service everywhere else. Now I find out that if Dominic gets a part in a play (he's taking a Theater Arts class) that there is a $200 "Activity Fee" that each student has to pay. This

It's happening everywhere. Some schools are telling parents to have their kids bring in their own toilet paper and stuff. We're in the biggest economic downturn since the Great Depression, and state and local budgets have been hammered from coast to coast.

Without getting more political, I'll just say that one of the two major parties has been trying to pass legislation to aid the states so they don't have to cut budgets to the bone, and the other party's filibustering those efforts.
