So when I lost weight back in 2001, my tailbone started hurting really badly. I don't remember what injury happened or when, but I guess the loss of padding made it suddenly a lot more obvious. I'd do it too. Surgery isn't always the best option, but in this case I think I would.

I've noticed my tailbone becoming annoying as I've lost weight over the past year, too. First I noticed it in my car's driver's seat, and more recently when I'm sitting on the floor (carpeted!) to stretch after a work out.

I don't think I've injured it yet though. Your situation sounds brutal... I'm glad you've found something that can be done about it.

I noticed it in the car first, too, all those years ago. I had a piece of foam with a V cut out of the back of it that I would sit on in the car to take pressure off of the tailbone.
