Oh there's no place like home for the holidays
'Cause no matter how far away you roam
If you want to be happy in a million ways
For the holidays, you can't beat home, sweet home
Robin sipped at a mug of Sanji's hot mulled cider and observed the antics of her crew.
Luffy, Usopp, and Chopper were decorating a tree Franky had cut from the island where the were docked and placed in the aquarium bar. Luffy also occasionally added decorations to a napping Zoro; the snoring swordsman was currently adorned with a silver tinsel garland, a candy cane reindeer hooked over one ear, and a string of multi-colored, blinking lights.
Franky and Brook were providing background music of carols, some traditional, others not so much, accompanied by violin and guitar. Pauses between songs were punctuated by the occasional "skull joke" or "super pose."
Nami was supervising the tree decorators, placing a few decorations around the rest of the room herself, and dodging Sanji. The cook alternated between setting up a buffet of snacks and trying to get close enough to Nami to get her under the sprig of mistletoe hanging from a headband he wore specifically for the occasion.
This was the crew's first Christmas together after reuniting at Saobody, and their odd little family was making the most of it.
Robin could remember the Christmas of the first year they were all apart. Even amidst all the danger and intrigue of their resistance movement, Dragon and his men had found the time for a small, subdued celebration. The strong bonds of friendship between the men were clear, and Robin found herself missing her crew.
For years, she had trained herself not to get attached, not to care. She knew she had started to leave all of that behind her after Ennies Lobby, but she hadn't realized how very much she now cared until she couldn't be with her new family.
"Say, Robin," Nami interrupted her thoughts, "what would you like for Christmas? I'm going to do some shopping tomorrow."
Robin smiled as she took in the current scene. Zoro had awoken and was now in a fight with Sanji over who knew what, the cook leaving the goodies unattended. Luffy, Usopp, and Chopper were now having a contest to see who could fit the most sugar cookies in their mouth at one time, even though Luffy clearly had an unfair advantage. Brook and Franky simply sang even louder to be heard over the cacophony.
"I have everything I want for Christmas right here."
Nami quirked an eyebrow but couldn't help smiling herself. "You wanted chaos? I'd better go break up the fight before they knock over the tree!" The navigator hurried off to administer some painful authority.
Robin took another sip of cider and sighed contentedly. It was good to be home!
