Personal tragedy.

My yard is full of dandelions. Full. Meaning I should mow but let's ignore that and focus on how pretty this is. I'd show you but the batteries in my camera were dead when I tried to take pictures. No problem, I put them in the charger ( Read more... )

HAHAHAHAHAHA... oh this is just great. You need to have a funeral service for your poor vibe!!! Bury it maybe. Sonia would be pissed if she lost her favourite vibe in a freak battery accident like this! She's had it for years and the thing never quits!

One question though are these batteries still under the camera warranty? Maybe you could get them & the camera replaced due the cataclysmic failure! I wonder if they would replace the vibe they melted as well? *scratches head* well... that could be a little embarrassing taking the thing in to prove that the batteries malfunctioned.

Still... what an awesomely funny story! You'll have something to tell new friends and at parties for years!

Actually the batteries were just some rechargeable double As I bought independently of the camera. I'm pretty sure the camera will be fine once I get it some happy batteries. Thanks for the thought though.

Glad you enjoyed the post -- it's good to know some good is coming of this. :)

Damn...what kind of battery did you put in there? Was it one of those NiMH ones?

Yes, it was. I've used the things for over a year now but up until now they've been rather boring, just functioning normally, not melting anything.

NiMH works by providing larger "bursts" of energy as compared to Ni-Cad or Alkaline batteries, which is why they were the early favorites for digital cameras and whatnot. They provided larger streams of power over shorter periods of time. I wonder if that power was just too much for the machine you put it into?

Hmm. I've used that battery in it before though. And it wasn't actually on, just sitting in the drawer. Maybe I overcharged the battery or had it close enough to on ("on" being when two metal bits are touching) to frustrate. Or maybe my vibrator was depressed and this was a suicide.
