It's illegal to smoke on the street in Tokyo. That was one of the best things about Tokyo.

I'd be happy if they would enforce the no smoking on T property. I hate waiting at a bus stop with smoke in my hair.

Yes, the bus part of the Malden T stop is the WORST! I usually try to cough conspicuously but I think people just assume I have tuberculosis and all the non-smokers get further away. Usually it's more like, "ok, I guess I'll just walk home."
