I don't know many details, since I just caught the tail end of the blurb on the news, but apparently a school somewhere got a bomb threat today and evacuated. This brings up several thoughts which will probably get me bitched at, but this is MY lj and I don't care. :P

From what I have read, school shooters usually do tell someone, most often a fellow student. It might be something really vague, like, "don't go to school tomorrow," or something more specific. Generally these people don't take the threat seriously, and don't turn the person in. And then, of course, tragedy occurs.

This is entirely possible. Like I said, I don't know all the details and haven't followed these stories as closely as some, and I don't live in an area where this kind of thing seems even remotely possible. But while they may warn what few friends they have (since shooters tend to not have many friends), I rather doubt they'd let the authorities know beforehand. Well, unless they haven't read the evil overlord list anyway. :P

I am truely sorry that in America this type of crazieness goes on, that normal life is distrupted so tragically and stupidly. I wish for you it would stop.

But I also wish that Australians don't 'import' this particular Americanism.

Why is it that Americans always invent the stupidest, most horrible new "fads"? You'd think someone else would come up with the Horror of the Week once in a while. :/ (Not that I'm wishing it on you or anyone else, it's just that we've got too damn much of it. :/)
