Apparently, Berlusconi is refusing to recognize Prodi's victory, finally ascertained two days ago, after all the contested votes were recounted ( Read more... )

The exit polls indicate an almost perfect tie between the left (Prodi)and right (Berlusconi) parties.
If things stay like this, commentators predict that it will be difficult/impossible for either party to govern.
Thus, it is likely that we will need new elections.

We'll see what the morning brings .....
