Okay, I'm sorry, that's actually funny (getting National Catholic Register instead of National Geographic) and actually mistaking it for spam! XD Sorry, it's just really funny for someone not involved in it. XD

LOL, it is pretty funny. Someone was just careless when entering codes and just probably looked for the very first "National" they saw (NCR would be listed before NG).

I hope the subscription service refunds you for the lost two months.

I agree! Though there's probably no take-backsies for the money that's gone to the NCR, alas.

Hmm, I don't know about trans rights specifically, but the GS of today seem to be a really inclusive organization and teach girls leadership skills. They also openly support LGBT and let lesbians troop leaders serve, so they're one up on the Boy Scouts who discriminate against gays.

I think it was really a mistake due to someone's laziness rather than a trick. I HOPE. o.O

The Saints' defense behaved in a very unsportmanslike way, basically, and the behavior was encouraged by the coaching staff. In a nutshell.

The only problem the GS has is that it's a very decentralized organization, and run entirely on volunteer power, which means that the tone of the individual troops are very much up to the local moms who run it. So while some troops are awesome with the camping and the knot-tying and the horse-riding and the individualism and all that, others are much more about the "staying home and learning to make many kinds of feminine crafts" type. It's all on the troop leaders.

The overall organization, however, is very woman- and LGBT friendly. I don't know if you heard about the kerfluffle this year; a bunch of right wing concern trolling anti-gay groups called for a boycott of Girl Scout Cookies because one troop had decided to accept a trans girl into their membership. I had to buy twice as many cookies this year, just to stick it to them. Oh, the horror. :P
