Okay, so it took a little longer than I meant to get around to the longer comment, but better late than never. :)

After I left the prompt, I went off and ended up reading about a dozen articles/posts about Silva's transfer (sobbb) followed by a load of angsty Villa/Silva fic, so, yes, this was exactly the realistic yet optimistic counter I needed. :) The contrast between Sergio and David's approach to a hopeless situation - Silva's silent but resigned angst and Sergio's total unsubtle take-what-I-can-get attitude - was lovely, and the whole piece v. nicely balanced and compact. And I love your Silva characterization - a sweetheart, yeah, and quiet, but just a hairsbreadth away from feisty, and hesitant to admit to things like "need". Meanwhile, this had so much of what I love about Sergio in it - he's just so giving, and it's so clear his heart's in the right place. He totally deserved a nice ending. ♥_

(don't even get me started on bbsilva's transfer. i understand valencia's strapped for cash but why city? argh!) i'm really so glad that you liked this. i'm always a little wary taking on requests/prompts because it usually turns out that i have completely different ideas about the characters/scenarios presented. i'm glad this wasn't the case! and silva's totally feisty- i do remember him headbutting podolski once ;] i never understand why most fic authors make him out to be so docile and sweet. sure, he's sweet, but that's certainly not all there is to him.
