Test Scene: Blue Devil

The Chimp peers his head over a piece of rubble and looks down at the gathering robed figures in the empty church hall. This wasn't exactly going according to his plan. He was sure he had another four hours before they'd undergo the ritual. The planet alignment wasn't until 4 AM locally

"You really gonna take 'em all on by yourself?" A voice whispers from behind. There in the shadows is Blue Devil, kneeling in the shadows and holding his trident. He moves next to the detective and peers down at the cultists.

"Hmmph, typical idiots, don't know what they're getting into."

Chimp nods in greeting to the devil as he arrives. "Glad to see you, Dan," he mutters quietly. "I'm not useless in a fight, but I was kinda sweating this one. Good to have some backup."

He glances down at the cultists. "You mind being the bright shiny distraction?"

"If it means scaring the living hell out of these nimrods, then I don't mind one bit." Danny stands up and brandishes his weapon, grinning. Danny leaps down into the crowd of cultists, knocking down several of them with his trident.

"Abandoned or not, this is holy ground, and I'll be damned if I'm letting it get defiled by some octopus demon!" The more cowardly, less committed cultists flee in terror, while the fanatics all swarm Blue Devil. They're easy enough to deal with, but one of the leaders slips past Danny and begins to chanting, hurrying the summoning while he still can.

Chimp leaps down and makes a beeline for the book on the altar. The key to the whole thing.

However, as Chimp approaches the altar, a glow appears in the middle of the circle, and a single tentacle begins to emerge.

"CRAP!" the chimp declares, avoiding the tentacle as he leaps onto the dais with the chanting cult leader.
