The future of the movie series has been in flux recently, with both Star Trek 4 and Quentin Tarantino’s planned Star Trek movie being announced. I'm okay with this because it spares me the trauma of living through Chekov's canon death. And let's face it; neiher Beyond nor Into Darkness managed to live up to the awesomeness that was the first film.

I guess it's not a surprise, since the script they'd been working off of was supposed to be about Kirk & Father, and both those actors dropped out. To be honest, I was surprised they were going to make another one. Each movie in the reboot franchise - while still profitable - has steadily dropped in ticket sales.

I really wanted to see the story of Kirk and Father (and hoped that Chekov would just be off-screen having adventures).

I'm sad we won't get this film. :( The 3rd one felt like the makers were finally "getting" Star Trek.

So disappointing. I really was enjoying seeing Pine grow into the role of Kirk.
