i feel like this movie happened very quickly! i am going to be optimistic about the new movie, given the new director and writer. at least from the trailer it looks like more of the movie will be on an alien planet, plus new uniforms!
Uniforms were one of the first things I noticed. Finally, rank for women!
There was some wank over at ONTD, but I think it looks good based on what we're seeing so far. Strange choice of music (harkening back to STXI?) though.
I didn't even notice Uhura's hair, but you're right! It looks like a low pony? Or some variation of the style she wore at the bar in Iowa. Definitely better looking than the bump-it pony she was rocking in STID.
I *think* she may have been in the script that Orci had written before he was sacked. Alice said she'd been in touch with JJ and Bad Robot, but claims she hadn't heard anything by the time they started filming. So I think it's a safe bet that she's gone off to Regula 1 to start work on Project Genesis.
Interesting. Apparently Pegg and Jung thought Marcus wasn't a good addition to the script. I can see why it'd be difficult to shoehorn her into the main cast and do damage control on what J.J.'s done to her character.
I scoped out IMDb to see if there was more info on Alice Eve and Beyond (no luck) and found these two articles instead: It's a clash of philosophies and Star Trek will politely ignore Into Darkness. Justin Lin talks a good game. Let's hope he applies all that Trek philosophy in the right way.

Ah I was talking about "Sabotage", which was also in STXI. Beastie Boys didn't fit this trailer at all.

The main thing that stood out were the different hairstyles for Kirk and Uhura. :p

Also, no Carol Marcus?
